The Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants List is organized by William Reed Business Media, and created by the Diners Club Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy, which consists of an influential group of over 300 leaders in the restaurant industry across Asia (Chefs & Restaurateurs, Food writers and Well-travelled gourmets), each selected for their expert opinion of Asia’s restaurant scene. There is a well-structured voting system to determine the results, which are overseen by global adjudication company Deloitte, to ensure that the list and awards have a credibility and influence that is renowned across the globe. Countries included in the voting in Asia are: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China,Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Maldives,Micronesia, Myanmar, Nauru, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan,Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam

Alongside the main countdown, a number of individual award categories are recognized, including individual country awards for which Ministry of Crab received ‘The S. Pellegrino Best Restaurant in Sri Lanka’ from 2016 - 2022.

Ministry of Crab was named on Condé Nast Traveler’s 2021 Gold List. The Gold List is an annual list of the editors’ favorite hotels and cruises across the globe. In 2021 Condé Nast Traveler went beyond places to stay, including a range of experiences we consider truly exceptional—flights, restaurants, bars, & destinations. Ministry of Crab was also the only restaurant from Sri Lanka to be included on the list that year.

Ministry of Crab was ranked the 1st Sri Lanka by the Miele Guide in their 2013 edition. The Miele Guide was Asia’s first truly independent and authoritative restaurant guide, created in 2008 in order to better recognise and celebrate Asia’s best chefs and restaurants. It annually showcased the top 20 restaurants, as well as categorised restaurants according to the city and country they are in. The Miele guide was published by Ate Media and sponsored by Miele, a German manufacturer of premium and innovative cooking appliances for the home. Each list was compiled through four rigorous rounds of judging by respected restaurant critics and food writers, popular public vote and the votes of The Miele Guide’s Special Jury (an invited panel of respected food lovers, journalists and F&B professionals), as well as anonymous tastings conducted by The Miele Guide’s contributing editors and editorial team.
